THE DANGER OF THE SCHOOL ADMISSION FORM IN CUSTODY CASES

School admission forms become an issue in many custody cases.  In some cases, a Mother involved in divorce is angry at the Father, so she doesn’t list him on the school form.  In other cases, Father will list his new wife (the step mother) as the mother and neglect to list the children’s natural mother.  These documents then become cannon fodder for the opposing side to use against the person mis-filling out the form.  It is used to show “alienation” and actions which are not in the best interests of the children.  When filling out such forms, place your anger to the side.  Go to great lengths to list all relevant information.  Add extra information if necessary to insulate yourself from attack.  For example, if the children have a step mother, list her.  If you list one set of grand parents, list the other.  Don’t set yourself up for attack over something silly like a blank in a form.
